"To understand one another, a few things are essential: first, a willingness to learn, and next, letting go of fixed ideas, prejudices, and conclusions made without benefit of communication." RVW |

I want to express my appreciation for the assistance Richard Vanceunebrouck-Werth provided in a recent family crisis. My wife and I arrived in Seattle from New Zealand, facing an immense family tragedy. Richard was recommended to help us cope with both the grief of the situation and the practical aspects of dealing with a sudden death. It is hard to express my gratitude for his compassion and expertise. He met with us many times over the course of a few weeks, showing great empathy and patience.
I, and many others at the memorial Richard conducted, felt it was the most meaningful they had ever attended. In
addition to his assistance with choosing words and music for the memorial, he
lent his own professional expertise to enhance the power of the musical pieces
that meant so much to my brother during his life. Richard Werth's eulogy to my
brother was thoughtfully composed and presented.
We deeply appreciate what Richard has done for us. He has become a good friend and a source of strength and understanding for our family.

I went through the end of a relationship and the death of my mother in June. I had unresolved issues, and needed some help in dealing with them. Rev. Richard Vanceunebrouck-Werth spent a lot of time with me, listening to me and providing his insight and advice. I'm not "all better," as it will take some time to get over my grief, but I appreciated Rev. Werth's professional counsel.

I have the honor of being both a friend of Richard Werth and a recipient of his knowledge and compassion. Recently, my family suffered a loss that was devastating. Richard brought great comfort to each member of the family. He has the ability to meet people where they are, spiritually and emotionally, and then formulate his communication with them in a way they can understand.
Richard is able to interact in a clear and patient way, even with those who may be distraught and angry. I admire his determination to never give up on anyone who may need him, in spite of obstacles. I am inspired by his love of humanity, his willingness to go out of his way if someone needs help, and his commitment to doing good in the world.
I would highly recommend him to any family going through loss or grief, or anyone who needs a compassionate pastoral counselor. His expertise in dealing with the difficult practical matters of the aftermath of death was also essential to my family, as people in stressful situations need assistance in balancing practical needs with spiritual and emotional ones. He is able to guide people back to a place of calm and assurance.
